Volunteer Committees for the 2008-2009 School Year
Parent volunteers are a necessary and vital part of a successful band program. Here are the committees that currently support the Sound of the Braves, and the chair of each one. Volunteers are needed to help out on most of these committees.

Additions Carolyn Sangrey
Collect/report volunteer hours and submit the information as appropriate to Orange County Public Schools.

Announcer Mark Crain
Introduces the band during football game halftime shows, marching competitions, and other public performances.

Chaperones Chris Minnear
Parent chaperones are needed during events such as football games, band competitions, band trips, or any band outing as required. They take the responsibility of supervising band students and verify that all students obey band conduct guidelines. All chaperones must adhere to all Orange County Public School regulations and guidelines. The Chaperone Coordinator takes the responsibility of supplying the band director, when directed, with chaperones for band functions.

Concessions
Operate and maintain concessions stand, equipment and supplies and the Boone High School stadium concession stand; these activities include all those associated with managing the concession stand for all home foot ball games or other designated activities as requested by the President or Band Director(s). Equipment Glenn Kirk
Work with Director(s) in satisfying all equipment requirements for all performances and events to include and securing the transportation of all band equipment to all events and performances to include off-campus concerts, football games, competitions, etc.

Fundraising
Fundraising provides opportunities for band students and parents to raise funds that can be applied toward paying their band fees, trip fees, or other special fees. Fundraising information


H20
Chair will be responsible for purchasing, pick-up and delivery of bottled water for the band’s consumption at all football games (home and away), competitions, parades and other events as needed during marching season. All expenditures will be reimbursed by the band. Quantity needed will be determined by the band directors. Chair will also be responsible for icing down water in coolers or other receptacles provided. This can be a committee of one, but it is recommended that support members be recruited by the chair.

Historian Mike and Kris Finn
Collect memorabilia and photographs of all band functions and organize them to be presented to the band at the end of year banquet.

Hospitality Michelle Oliver
Host at meetings and special affairs. As well, handle any set up of food or facilitate and pleasantries at band functions to include being the end of year Band Banquet committee chairperson.

Pre-Season Band Camp Lisa Hall
Organize and facilitate meal planning/snacks for band members during band camp. As well, work with the Hospitality Chairperson in setting up and facilitating the after band camp get together.

Registrar of Community Service Hours Gayle Matheson
(new position for 2008-09)

Uniform Jan Gidel and Gay Geiger
Handle the uniform fitting for all band students during the first week of band camp. Help hand out and collect uniforms from the students. Help sew, mend or hem uniforms to fit students.

Webmaster David Dittmer
Responsible for maintaining the Boone High School band web site.
