PRE-SEASON CAMP
Pre-Season (a.k.a. Band Camp) is where it all begins. For you incoming freshmen, it is where you start to make your mark here at Boone High School. The lessons you learn and friends you gain will last you a lifetime. Some of the greatest memories are from this two week period. For you incoming veterans…need I say more? You know what this is all about. That is why you keep coming back year after year. For all of us, we have the unique ability to experience an art form from the aspect of the artist. This year’s show is fun. The 2008 field show has music that some will know and others will love, even if they didn’t know it before. With the continuation of our staff, we will pull together an unforgettable show!
There are a few things to do to be prepared for band camp. The better shape you are in at the beginning of Pre-Season, the better off you will be with the exercises. So, turn off the TV, get off the couch, and start exercising. Look at the list below and make sure you have everything you need. Included in this list are
SUN GLASSES, SUN BLOCK, AND WATER. Please make sure you have each of these with you at all times while outside. Most of all bring a great attitude for the creation of a great marching season.
1. Make sure you instrument is in good working order! (Oils, reeds, mouthpieces, etc). Bring music and lyres if needed.
2.
WATER! This is a requirement. A camel back is great & acceptable. Bring large bottles of water and Gatorade. Alternate between these two beverages. Limit soda.
3. No dairy products for breakfast or during band camp!. Dairy producrts are discouraged as they don't mix well with vigorous activity. Please eat breakfast before coming to camp.
4. Bring a towel for exercises and yet another cooling agent. Wear a comfortable pair of sneakers. Bring a hat, sunglases, & sun block.
5. Loose light fitting gym type clothes work best for camp. No jeans or jean type shorts. Shorts, T-shirts or tank tops are appropriate. Bring another set of clothes for the afternoon session, if desired. (It is a sweaty morning)
DONATIONS ARE APPRECIATED: Gatorade, Fruit (apples & bananas), Sunscreen, Cups, Paper Towels, & Peanut Butter
